What a fantastic weekend for the Hyper Team. Saturday just couldnt get much better with the News that Jared Garcia Won the SX race down at the Olympic Training Center. This USA camp was for all the top Americans looking to be part of Team USA long team of 10 riders. From this group they will choose 3 riders for the Olympics. This is a huge deal for Jared and Hyper. Congrats Jared! After the news on Jared I got to witness one of the most dominating performances from a Factory Team in years and a huge Factory Team Win in the very first race of the year. 9 wins on Saturday with just 7 riders.
Sunday we were all still feeling great and looking to stay on our roll. The team came away with 8 more Wins and were just crushing the field at times. A solid 3rd on the Factory Team chase but the Team made a great statement.
Rider results:
Kelsey Van Ogle showed once again that She is the best and that all the 13-14 Girls are racing for 2nd. Another great weekend leading wire to wire every lap. 2 Wins in 13 Girl and 2 Wins in 13-14 Crusier.
Bubba Gonzales was in a different area code all weekend and He also lead every lap and have to say just looked like no one has the skills he has at that age. Bubba's 2nd straights were a thing of beauty...2 Wins in 12X and 2 more in 12 Crusier.
Kohl Piluso also just destroyed the field and never lost a lap. Kohl was like a machine every lap. Great gates and track speed. Kohl had 2 Wins in 8X and 2 more in 7-8 Open.
Shealen Reno was out to prove her 2nd at the Grands was no fluke and She wants the #1 plate this year and is training hard for it. In the Main on Saturday Shealen made a great move in the last turn getting under the leader and made the move for the Win in 15 Girl. On Sunday Shealen had gate 8 but rode a good race to still get 2nd which was a very difficult out of that gate. In Jr. Development race Shealen once again showed how determined she is and had a very nice hard fought Win. She also had a 3rd in Jr. Devo on Saturday.
Lain Van Ogle has one of the hardest classes in BMX , 17-18X. Being the youngest rider in that group I wasnt sure what I was going to get but I have seen Lain ride for about 10 years and knew I would get 100% and he has always raced great. Well Lain didnt disappoint on Saturday with a Pro move in turn 1 going from 3rd to 1st and taking home the Win. On Sunday Lain was with the leaders heading toward turn 1 when he got caught up with another rider and came unclipped and almost crashed Lain did what almost all other riders wouldnt do and put his head down and pushed as hard as he could passing riders around the track and still came home with a 4th. As a T.M. I cant say how proud I am to see my riders push thru when things get hard. Way to set a example for our younger riders!
Pete Choat is a RACER. On Sunday he was in 4th place heading toward the 2nd turn from gate 7. Pete made one of the best moves I have ever seen going from 4th to 1st with a text book move that even had the announcer all excited that Pete should put on a clinic. Not bad for a 7 year old! On Saturday Pete had a hard fought 2nd from gate 8.
Patrick Coo was way out front all weekend in 9X. This little guy is exhausting just to watch because he just gives it everything he has around the track. There never is a question he is giving 100%. Patrick had a huge Win on Saturday with at least 10bike lenght lead. On Sunday Patrick had lane 8 and just didnt have enough time to get over. Patrick ended up a solid 3rd but had move track speed but just couldnt get around.
All this couldnt happen without the help of Hyper Bicycles and our Co-Sponsors Profile Racing, NEMA, Fly Helmets, LDC Brakes, Black Crown number plates and Elevn.
